Converting US fluid ounces to millilitres in real life
US drink sizes, baby bottles, coffee cups and many recipes are measured in fluid ounces. If your measuring jug, bottle or nutrition app uses millilitres, you need to convert. Coffee shop sizes are a good example: a 12 oz cup is about 355 ml and a 16 oz cup about 473 ml.
Rounding to 30 ml per ounce is common on labels and is about 1.4% high. That is fine for a drink but adds up in large volumes: 64 oz is 1,893 ml exactly, not 1,920. If a recipe is British and old, it may mean the UK fluid ounce (28.41 ml); the volume converter has both.
