The Etsy fees on every sale
Most Etsy orders carry three fees. Some carry up to three more.
| Fee | Rate (checked 22 October 2026) | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | USD 0.20 per listing, renewed after each sale | each item sold |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | item price + shipping + gift wrap |
| Payment processing | depends on your bank country, e.g. US 3% + $0.25 | order total, including tax |
| Regulatory operating fee | 0.05%–1.97% in some countries | item price + shipping |
| Offsite Ads | 15%, or 12% for $10k+ shops, max USD 100 | the whole order, if the sale came from an ad |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | the sale, if your listing currency differs from your bank’s |
Profit = Price + Shipping − Etsy fees − Item cost − Postage
Worked example 1: a US candle shop
A US seller sells a candle for $25 and charges $5 shipping. The candle costs $8 to make and postage costs $4.50.
- Listing fee: $0.20
- Transaction fee: 6.5% × $30 = $1.95
- Processing: 3% × $30 + $0.25 = $1.15
- Total fees: $3.30 (11% of the sale)
- Etsy pays: $30 − $3.30 = $26.70
- Profit: $26.70 − $8 − $4.50 = $14.20
If the same sale came through an Offsite Ad, add 15% × $30 = $4.50. Profit drops to $9.70.
Worked example 2: a UK print shop
A UK seller sells a print for £20 with £3.50 shipping.
- Listing: USD 0.20, roughly £0.15 to £0.16 depending on the exchange rate
- Transaction: 6.5% × £23.50 = £1.53
- Processing: 4% × £23.50 + £0.20 = £1.14
- Regulatory operating fee: 0.48% × £23.50 = £0.11
- Total: about £2.94, plus VAT on the fees if you are not VAT-registered

Tips to keep more of each sale
- Price shipping honestly. Etsy charges fees on shipping too, so “free shipping” just moves the cost into the item price. The fee is the same either way.
- Know your Offsite Ads status. Shops under USD 10,000 in yearly sales can opt out. Above that, it is mandatory but drops to 12%.
- Watch currency conversion. If your listing currency does not match your bank currency, 2.5% more goes on every sale.
- Multi-quantity listings renew at USD 0.20 after each sale, so a listing that sells ten times costs USD 2 in listing fees.
- Use the reverse mode. Enter the profit you want per order, and the calculator finds the item price that covers every fee.
What is not included
On-site Etsy Ads, Etsy Plus, Etsy shipping labels, the one-time shop set-up fee and deposit fees in some countries are not included. Sales tax that Etsy collects and sends to the government is not your income. It still counts towards the processing fee.
