How deleting pages works
The tool opens your PDF in the browser and shows every page as a thumbnail. Pages you mark are crossed out. When you click Delete, it builds a new PDF from the pages you kept, in their original order, and offers it as a download. Your original file is not touched, so a mistake is never permanent.
Nothing is uploaded. The pages are copied on your own device, which is why the tool is safe for payslips, medical letters and signed contracts.
Ways to choose pages
- Tap thumbnails. Each tap crosses a page out or brings it back. The count under the range box updates as you go.
- Type pages and ranges.
2, 5-7, 12marks five pages. Write10-for page 10 to the end, orlastfor the final page. - Use the quick picks. Odd and Even select every other page. None clears the selection.
- Shift-click (on a computer) to mark every page between your last click and this one.
The tool will not let you delete every page, because a PDF needs at least one. It tells you how many pages will remain before you click.
Worked example: cleaning up a duplex scan
You scanned a 6-sheet form on a scanner set to double-sided. The result is a 12-page PDF, and the back of every sheet is blank, so pages 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 are empty.
- Choose the PDF. The thumbnails show text on the odd pages and white on the even ones.
- Press Even. Pages 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 are crossed out, and the note next to the Delete button says “6 pages will remain”.
- Scroll through the thumbnails to make sure no even page has writing on it. If one does, tap it to keep it.
- Click Delete 6 pages and download the result.
The new PDF holds the six real pages in order. It is also smaller, because the blank scans are gone.
Delete or extract?
Both tools give you a PDF with fewer pages. Choose the one that needs fewer clicks:
| Situation | Quicker tool |
|---|---|
| Remove a cover sheet or a few blank pages | Delete PDF Pages |
| Keep 3 pages out of 60 | Extract PDF Pages |
| Cut the document into several parts | Split PDF |
| Remove pages and also change the order | Organize PDF |
What happens to the rest of the document
The pages you keep are copied exactly: same text, images, size and orientation. Links between kept pages still work, while links that pointed to a deleted page are removed. Document-wide extras such as the bookmark sidebar and fillable form settings are not carried into the new file, so if a PDF form must stay fillable, keep a copy of the original.
Tips
- Check before you delete. Scanned pages that look blank in a thumbnail sometimes carry a faint signature or stamp. Zoom in with your browser (Ctrl and +, or pinch on a phone) to take a closer look.
- Sideways pages? Fix them afterwards with Rotate PDF.
- Still too big to email? Deleting pages helps, but scans are mostly images. Run the result through Compress PDF for a much smaller file.
- Password-protected files. If the PDF asks for a password when you open it, remove the password first with Unlock PDF. You need to know it.
