Converting kilograms to pounds in real life
You will meet this conversion most often with body weight, airline baggage and gym equipment. US doctors, fitness apps and bathroom scales sold in America use pounds, while most of the world weighs in kilograms. Airlines are the classic trap: many set checked bags at 23 kg, while US carriers say 50 lb, and the two are not quite the same.
Multiplying by 2.2 is fine for a rough idea. It comes out about 0.2% low, which is under half a pound for a 100 kg person. For anything you pay for or certify, such as freight or medicine doses, use the full factor. If you are in the UK and want body weight in stone and pounds, use the kg to stone page.
