Converting stone to kilograms in real life
Bathroom scales, slimming groups and conversations in the UK and Ireland often use stone, but GP surgeries, medicine leaflets, sports registrations and anything travelling abroad usually want kilograms.
The converter needs a decimal number of stone. If you weigh 11 stone 4, divide the pounds by 14 and add them to the stone: 4 ÷ 14 = 0.2857, so you enter 11.2857. That works out at about 71.67 kg. Typing 11.4 instead would add 0.4 of a stone, which is 5.6 pounds, not 4.
A quick mental check: one stone is a little over 6⅓ kg, so 10 stone is about 63.5 kg and 15 stone about 95.3 kg. For a pound-by-pound conversion, the lbs to kg page is simpler.
